Your bill has three parts: your plan, anything you use beyond what it includes, and your phone numbers after the first one. This page is the only place in the documentation that works costs out end to end, so it is the one to check rather than a figure quoted elsewhere.

What drives your cost

Prices are in US dollars. Yearly billing is cheaper: Starter 44amonth,Pro44 a month, Pro 134, Growth $449.

Worked example: a small business taking 200 calls a month

A dental practice with one agent answering the main line. Calls average three minutes, so 200 calls is about 600 minutes. The same practice on Starter would pay 49fortheplan,useits160includedminutes,andbechargedfor440extraminutesat49 for the plan, use its 160 included minutes, and be charged for 440 extra minutes at 0.18, which is 79.20,foratotalof79.20, for a total of 128.20. That is close enough to Pro that Pro is the better buy once you account for the app store and test scenarios it includes.

Worked example: adding texts and email

The same practice sends appointment confirmations, and answers email.

Worked example: an outbound campaign

A home services company on Growth calls 500 past customers about an annual service. Calls average two minutes, so 1,000 minutes. Had the same company been on Pro, its 600 included minutes would have covered less than half the month, and the remaining 1,200 minutes at 0.16wouldhaveadded0.16 would have added 192, taking Pro to $341. Growth is the better buy once your monthly minutes pass roughly 1,200.

Keeping your bill predictable

  • Match your plan to your minutes. Work out your monthly minutes as calls multiplied by average length, then pick the plan that covers it. Paying per minute for hundreds of minutes is the most common way to overspend.
  • Decide about extra usage deliberately. With extra usage off, your agent stops taking calls when your minutes run out, which protects your bill and costs you calls. With it on, your bill can exceed your plan. Neither is the safe default for everyone. See Limits.
  • Release numbers you are not using, since each one renews monthly.
  • Check your usage mid month rather than at the end.

FAQ

Your plan plus anything beyond it. A business taking 200 calls of about three minutes fits inside the Pro plan at $149 a month with nothing extra to pay. Work out your minutes as calls multiplied by average length, then pick the plan that covers it.
Calls inside your plan’s allowance cost nothing extra. Beyond it, minutes are charged at your plan’s rate: 0.18onStarter,0.18 on Starter, 0.16 on Pro, 0.14onGrowth,and0.14 on Growth, and 0.12 on Custom. A three minute call beyond your allowance on Pro is 48 cents.
One number is included with every paid plan. Extra numbers renew monthly at the price shown next to each number before you buy, which varies by country. See Buy a phone number.
Calls that never connect do not use call minutes. Calls your agent answers do, including short ones and wrong numbers. See What counts towards my usage.
Test calls use call minutes in the same way as real calls, so they are free only while you are inside your allowance. The Free plan’s 10 minutes cover several test calls, which is what they are for.
Yes, and it is the default. With extra usage switched off, your agent stops taking calls when your included minutes run out, so your bill cannot exceed your plan plus your numbers. The cost of that protection is missed calls, so choose deliberately.
Yes. Starter is 44amonthbilledyearlyratherthan44 a month billed yearly rather than 49, Pro is 134ratherthan134 rather than 149, and Growth is 449ratherthan449 rather than 499. Included minutes and features are identical either way.
Almost always extra minutes beyond your plan, or numbers you are no longer using. Check your usage for the month first, then your list of phone numbers. See How billing works.
