# Workspace settings

> Every section of Brilo settings and what each one controls: general, members, plans, billing, trust center, compliance, developer keys, and channels.

Settings holds everything that applies to your whole workspace rather than to one agent. It is grouped
into Workspace, User Profile, Integrations, Developer, Channels, Trust Center, and Compliance. This page
lists every section and what it controls, so you know which one to open.

## Where to find each setting

Settings is grouped down the left of the settings screen. This table lists every section and what you
change in it.

| Section | What you change there |
| --------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **General** | Your workspace name, your workspace ID for API requests, and which workspace opens by default |
| **Members** | Who has access to the workspace, and what each person can do |
| **Plans** | Which plan you are on, and whether extra usage beyond your allowance is allowed |
| **Billing** | Your payment method, your invoices, and cancelling your subscription |
| **Custom Fields** | Extra fields on your contact records |
| **Vocabulary** | How your agent pronounces names, brands, and unusual terms |
| **Availability** | The business hours your workspace works to |
| **Profile** | Your own name, email, and password, which is yours rather than the workspace's |
| **Security & Access** | Your own sign in security, including multi factor authentication |
| **Connections** | The tools your workspace has connected |
| **API Keys** | Keys for calling the Brilo API |
| **Logs** | A record of API requests and webhook deliveries |
| **Email** | Sending agent email from your own domain |
| **Verify Identity** | Verifying you are a real person, which unlocks outbound calling |
| **Register Brand** | Registering your business so US numbers can send texts |
| **HIPAA** | Turning on the handling required for protected health information |

Settings that are not switched on for your workspace do not appear in this list on screen. If a section
here is missing on your screen, that is usually why, and support can tell you which ones apply to your
plan.

## Which settings affect your bill

Three sections change what you pay, and they are worth knowing apart, because they are easy to confuse.

**Plans** is where you change plan and where the **Overage Usage** toggle lives. That toggle is the one
setting that decides whether your bill can exceed your plan. With it off, which is the default, your
agent stops taking calls when your minutes run out. With it on, calls carry on and the extra is charged.
It cannot be switched on for the Free plan. See [How billing works](/account/how-billing-works).

**Billing** is where your invoices, payment method, and cancellation live. It is where you go to fix a
failed card or download an invoice for your finance team.

**Register Brand** carries a one time \$49 carrier fee, separate from your plan. See
[Register your business](/phone-numbers/register-your-business).

## What settings do not control

Settings is workspace wide, so anything that belongs to a single agent is not here.

| Not in settings | Where it is instead |
| ------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| An agent's voice, prompt, or greeting | On the agent itself. See [Choose a voice](/agents/choose-a-voice) |
| What an agent is allowed to do | On the agent's actions. See [What are actions](/actions/what-are-actions) |
| What an agent knows | On the agent's knowledge. See [What your agent can learn](/knowledge/what-your-agent-can-learn) |
| Buying or assigning a phone number | **Phone numbers**. See [Buy a phone number](/phone-numbers/buy-a-phone-number) |
| Call tags and post call reports | On the agent. See [Tag your calls automatically](/reports/tag-your-calls-automatically) |
| Campaign pacing and calling hours | On the campaign. See [Control how fast it dials](/campaigns/control-how-fast-it-dials) |

## Who can change settings

Access to settings depends on your role, and the split matters most for billing. Only the workspace
owner, meaning whoever created the workspace, can reach the subscription, verify identity, or register
the business. Everyone else can work on agents and listen to calls without seeing the billing at all.

Your own **Profile** and **Security & Access** are yours regardless of role, since they are your account
rather than the workspace. See [Who can do what](/account/who-can-do-what).

## What else you can do here

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Where do I change whether my bill can go over my plan?">
    In **Settings**, then **Plans**, using the **Overage Usage** toggle. It is off by default, which caps
    your bill at your plan and your numbers but stops calls when your minutes run out. It cannot be
    enabled on the Free plan. See [How billing works](/account/how-billing-works).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where are my invoices?">
    In **Settings**, then **Billing**, where you can download each invoice and update your payment
    method. Only the workspace owner can open it. See
    [How billing works](/account/how-billing-works).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why can't I see some settings sections?">
    Two usual reasons: you are not the workspace owner, which hides billing, identity, and business
    registration, or the section is not switched on for your workspace. Ask the owner, or contact
    support to check what applies to your plan.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where do I find my workspace ID for the API?">
    In **Settings**, then **General**, next to your workspace name. Use it in API requests. Your API keys
    are in **Settings**, then **API Keys**, which is a different section.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is the difference between Plans and Billing?">
    **Plans** is what you are buying: your plan, and whether extra usage is allowed. **Billing** is how
    you pay: your card, your invoices, and cancelling. Change plan in Plans, fix a failed card in
    Billing.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where do I change my agent's voice or greeting?">
    Not in settings. Voice, greeting, and prompt belong to each agent, so you change them on the agent
    itself rather than workspace wide. See [Choose a voice](/agents/choose-a-voice).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I have more than one workspace?">
    Yes, and **General** is where you choose which one opens by default. Each workspace has its own
    agents, numbers, plan, and billing, so usage in one does not draw on the other's allowance.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where do I turn on texting for my number?">
    Not in settings directly. Texting is switched on per number under **Phone numbers**, but in the US it
    is only available once your business is registered in **Trust Center**. See
    [Text messages](/channels/text-messages).
  </Accordion>
