# What will this cost me

> A worked example of what Brilo costs a month, covering your plan, call minutes, phone numbers, and email, with real figures.

Your bill has three parts: your plan, anything you use beyond what it includes, and your phone numbers
after the first one. This page is the only place in the documentation that works costs out end to end, so
it is the one to check rather than a figure quoted elsewhere.

## What drives your cost

| Part            | How it works                                                                                   |
| --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Your plan       | A fixed monthly or yearly amount. Starter $49, Pro $149, Growth \$499 a month                  |
| Call minutes | Each plan includes an allowance. Beyond it, from $0.18 down to $0.12 a minute by plan |
| Phone numbers | One included with every paid plan. Extra numbers renew monthly at the price shown when you buy |
| Email           | Pro includes 800 a month and Growth 2,000. Extra emails are \$0.01 each                        |
| Everything else | Agents, knowledge, actions, integrations, team members, and reports cost nothing extra |

Prices are in US dollars. Yearly billing is cheaper: Starter $44 a month, Pro $134, Growth \$449.

## Worked example: a small business taking 200 calls a month

A dental practice with one agent answering the main line. Calls average three minutes, so 200 calls is
about 600 minutes.

| Line                                  | Amount       |
| ------------------------------------- | ------------ |
| Pro plan, monthly                     | \$149.00     |
| 600 call minutes, all included in Pro | \$0.00       |
| First phone number, included          | \$0.00       |
| **Total**                             | **\$149.00** |

The same practice on Starter would pay $49 for the plan, use its 160 included minutes, and be charged for
440 extra minutes at $0.18, which is $79.20, for a total of $128.20. That is close enough to Pro that Pro
is the better buy once you account for the app store and test scenarios it includes.

## Worked example: adding texts and email

The same practice sends appointment confirmations, and answers email.

| Line                                         | Amount                           |
| -------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| Pro plan, monthly                            | \$149.00                         |
| 600 call minutes, included                   | \$0.00                           |
| 300 agent emails, within Pro's 800           | \$0.00                           |
| A second phone number for the hygienist line | The monthly price of that number |
| **Total**                                    | **\$149.00 plus one number**     |

## Worked example: an outbound campaign

A home services company on Growth calls 500 past customers about an annual service. Calls average two
minutes, so 1,000 minutes.

| Line                                                                 | Amount       |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------ |
| Growth plan, monthly                                                 | \$499.00     |
| 1,000 campaign minutes, within Growth's 2,500                        | \$0.00       |
| Inbound calls the same month, roughly 800 minutes, also within 2,500 | \$0.00 |
| **Total**                                                            | **\$499.00** |

Had the same company been on Pro, its 600 included minutes would have covered less than half the month,
and the remaining 1,200 minutes at $0.16 would have added $192, taking Pro to \$341. Growth is the better
buy once your monthly minutes pass roughly 1,200.

## Keeping your bill predictable

* **Match your plan to your minutes.** Work out your monthly minutes as calls multiplied by average
  length, then pick the plan that covers it. Paying per minute for hundreds of minutes is the most common
  way to overspend.
* **Decide about extra usage deliberately.** With extra usage off, your agent stops taking calls when your
  minutes run out, which protects your bill and costs you calls. With it on, your bill can exceed your
  plan. Neither is the safe default for everyone. See [Limits](/supported/limits).
* **Release numbers you are not using**, since each one renews monthly.
* **Check your usage mid month** rather than at the end.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How much will Brilo cost me a month?">
    Your plan plus anything beyond it. A business taking 200 calls of about three minutes fits inside the
    Pro plan at \$149 a month with nothing extra to pay. Work out your minutes as calls multiplied by
    average length, then pick the plan that covers it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How much does a call cost?">
    Calls inside your plan's allowance cost nothing extra. Beyond it, minutes are charged at your plan's
    rate: $0.18 on Starter, $0.16 on Pro, $0.14 on Growth, and $0.12 on Custom. A three minute call beyond
    your allowance on Pro is 48 cents.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How much does a phone number cost?">
    One number is included with every paid plan. Extra numbers renew monthly at the price shown next to
    each number before you buy, which varies by country. See
    [Buy a phone number](/phone-numbers/buy-a-phone-number).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I pay for calls my agent does not answer?">
    Calls that never connect do not use call minutes. Calls your agent answers do, including short ones and
    wrong numbers. See [What counts towards my usage](/account/what-counts-towards-my-usage).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do test calls cost money?">
    Test calls use call minutes in the same way as real calls, so they are free only while you are inside
    your allowance. The Free plan's 10 minutes cover several test calls, which is what they are for.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I stop my bill going above my plan?">
    Yes, and it is the default. With extra usage switched off, your agent stops taking calls when your
    included minutes run out, so your bill cannot exceed your plan plus your numbers. The cost of that
    protection is missed calls, so choose deliberately.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is yearly billing cheaper?">
    Yes. Starter is $44 a month billed yearly rather than $49, Pro is $134 rather than $149, and Growth is
    $449 rather than $499. Included minutes and features are identical either way.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is my bill higher than I expected?">
    Almost always extra minutes beyond your plan, or numbers you are no longer using. Check your usage for
    the month first, then your list of phone numbers. See
    [How billing works](/account/how-billing-works).
